Career: the comeback
June 15, 2025“I absolutely believe in the power of giving back. My own experience about all the blessings I”ve had in my life is that the more I give away, the more that comes back. That is the way life works, and that is the way energy works.”
Ken Blanchard, management guru and best selling author
The people who have supported me during my career are countless. But I remember each and everyone of them. Miss V. offered to design enjoywork.gr”s first logo. O. opened up her office for me without even knowing me. Z. edited my first careers book. In all honesty, if I was to mention everyone who has helped me throuthout my career, I would need to write a new book!
All these people believe in what William Arruda calls ” Career Karma: give to get”. Give to get not in a mundane sense though. These people never thought that they would gain something from me. I am sure of that. They just believe, truly believe that it is their duty to help, because some day someone else helped them. And when they helped me, they passed this noble Duty on to me to fulfill.
In the new world of work where people, professionals with strong personal brands are at the centre of activity, instead of corporations and businesses, it is necessary to support each other. Our career breathes, lives and grows because of the care we provide to it. Guidance, advice, feedback, inspiration, practical help, meetings, connections, business opportunities have generously been offered to us by the people we have come across in our lives. They have been given to us by people who experience “wealth” and not “misery”.
The most successful professionals in the world are not worried of losing out. They believe that opportunities are countless. They get to know people, they share, they admire, they support others and they know, they believe rather, that this is their duty. They believe this is they way they can go on experiencing even bigger success, even more opportunities. And so it happens.
So, let”s go out there and connect. Let”s help, support, recognise fellow professionals. Let”s be present in life, let”s give. No matter at what career level we are, this is the most direct road to professional success and personal fulfilliment.
Until next week, do take care of your career.
