Don’t fake it. Flaunt it.

Most of us have some set dates each year when we make plans and commitments. For me that milestone is always around my birthday as it coincides with the Autumn term and I have always felt that it is good to “get ready for school year again”.
However, for many other people this time of year, is now! For everyone, who prefers this season to birthdays or some other milestone, I am suggesting 3 alternative steps to follow when thinking about your career”s New Year”s resolutions. Please note, that the steps are great to follow for other milestones too!
1. Commit to the steps not to the destination: for example this coming year, you can decide to become a better communicator, a more efficient networker, a kinder employer or a more empathetic manager instead of deciding to “get a new job by April”, “increase revenue by March” or “get a promotion by May”. When we commit to steps we have complete ownership of we will eventually get to our destination.
2. This coming year, please decide “What do I want in 2026 to be remembered by….” and commit to that. It would help if you gave your year a title: “2026 for me, it will be the year of….”
3. Please, this year, do not resist: do write down your list. Make the list visible and make your commitments come alive.
